Job Summary

BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems is seeking a visionary Technical Leader to architect the future of sensing technology. The Technical Lead will spearhead the development of a next-generation RADAR system, owning the technical roadmap and providing the technical and programmatic bridge between high-level customer requirements and cutting-edge hardware and software products.

About the Role

This is a high-impact role designed for a multidisciplinary expert who possesses a deep mastery of RADAR Digital Signal Processing (DSP), algorithms, and hardware. The role requires a transition from technical execution to strategic leadership, managing an Integrated Product Team (IPT) across multiple domains including mechanical, electrical, software, firmware, and test engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and synchronize Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) across RADAR, mechanical, electrical, software, firmware, and test engineering.
  • Drive and own complex trade studies to determine optimal system architectures, ensuring data-driven decisions aligned with mission utility.
  • Develop metrics and frameworks to evaluate emerging concepts and translate them into discriminating technologies for the customer.
  • Modernize and evolve technical processes and tools to increase engineering velocity and precision.
  • Partner directly with customers to define and refine Concept of Operations (CONOPS), ensuring the final product exceeds operational expectations.
  • Provide rigorous technical and contractual oversight of subcontract partners, monitoring performance to ensure seamless integration into the broader system.
  • Manage scope, schedule, and technical risk to ensure the program meets all mission-critical milestones.
  • Lead management reviews and provide critical life-cycle event reporting through portfolio leadership chains.
  • Mentor and coach senior and mid-level systems engineers in mission systems engineering and architecture development.
  • Represent the organization in high-level presentations to peers, executive management, and external stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • A BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field, plus 10 or more years of related experience.
  • Advanced Academic Foundation: A Master’s or PhD in Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field is highly desirable.
  • Deep technical proficiency in the design, implementation, and optimization of complex RADAR systems.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the full systems engineering process, including: Development of Concept of Operations (CONOPS), requirement derivation, allocation, and management, Rigorous Verification and Validation (V&V) and change management, Proven experience leading all phases of hardware program execution, from initial planning and design reviews through manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, and final operational sell-off.
  • Extensive knowledge of mission sets and core technology areas with a proven track record of maintaining established relationships with key personnel within the customer community.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and refine internal processes and procedures to align with customer needs, including the development and delivery of training to ensure team alignment with standard operating procedures.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with documented experience delivering technical briefings and strategic recommendations to senior decision-makers and technical audiences.

  • Current, active Secret security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
  • Short Term Incentive: Eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan based on business performance and recommendations of management.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
