Engineer - Quality III

About the role

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate product conformance through the execution, optimization, and validation of quality processes.
• Maintain quality standards for products and processes and suggest modifications to prevent defects.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate quality risks.
• Audit production processes, raw materials, or suppliers/vendors to ensure established quality standards are met.
• Conduct root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures.
• Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
• Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes to improve product and system quality.
• Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test for the Manufacturing team.
• Interface with internal and external customers on quality related concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness.

Requirements

• Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering/Science
• 5+ years’ proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment
• Aerospace, space launch, or military or commercial aviation preferred
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs
• Excellent communication skills, organized, attention to detail, and self-starter
• Ability to support integration schedules and overtime on as needed basis
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Qualifications

• Passion for our mission and vision is required
• Experience in aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation highly preferred
• Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
• Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
• Experience in GD&T fundamentals
• Experience with quality tools such as lean principles, root cause analysis, and corrective action
• Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem solving approaches
• Quality Management System audit experience
• Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
• Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification
