Engineer Plan Reviewer
About the role
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large agency responsible for various health and social services. The position of Engineering Plan Reviewer is unique, involving the review of plans and specifications for health care, social care, and detention facilities.
Responsibilities
- Review engineering work (plans and specifications) including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection for health care, social care, and detention facilities.
- Ensure compliance with NC State Building Codes.
- Communicate technical construction and engineering information verbally and in writing.
- Travel within the state, including overnight trips (2-3 days per month).
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to review building plans and specifications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NC State Building Codes.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an accredited institution.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering plan review.
- Equivalency of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information.
- Knowledge of NC State Building Codes.
- Ability to travel within the state, including overnight trips.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $63,927 - $111,871, with a recruitment range of $63,927 - $89,610.
