About the role
The Quality Management System Auditor (K93 Nuclear Group) at Newport News Shipbuilding is responsible for conducting and documenting surveillances of work in progress throughout the shipyard to identify non-conformances to requirements and opportunities for improvement. They develop audit plans to evaluate processes supporting quality requirements, conduct audits, prepare audit reports, and follow up with auditees to evaluate corrective action development and confirm effective implementation.
Responsibilities
- Conducts and documents surveillances of work in progress throughout the shipyard to identify non-conformances to requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develops audit plans to evaluate processes supporting quality requirements, conducts audits, prepares audit reports.
- Follows up with auditees to evaluate corrective action development and confirm effective implementation.
- Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
- Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience.
- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
