Engineer IV Tunnels
About the role
Lead Engineer responsible for developing advanced numerical models to evaluate complex underground works, including tunnels in soft ground and rock, large caverns, and deep excavations. Develop geotechnical interpretations to support underground engineering analysis and design, assess field investigation data and laboratory test results for soil and rock materials, formulate non‑linear soil and rock constitutive relationships and parameters for numerical analyses, develop design solutions, technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings for new and rehabilitated underground facilities, support senior technical leaders in project pursuits and bid‑stage solutions, and mentor and supervise engineering staff to ensure best‑practice methodologies and high‑quality solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop advanced numerical models for evaluation of tunnels, caverns, deep excavations.
- Perform geotechnical interpretation and analysis of field and laboratory data.
- Formulate non‑linear soil and rock constitutive relationships and parameters.
- Create design solutions, technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings for underground projects.
- Support senior technical leaders in project pursuits and bid‑stage technical proposals.
- Mentor and supervise engineering staff to ensure best‑practice methodologies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering plus six (6) years of tunnel engineering experience.
- Alternatively, Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of the described experience.
- Six (6) years of experience in analysis and design of underground structures (soft ground and rock tunnels) using TBM or conventional methods.
