About the role

The Engineer IV is a senior-level individual contributor who provides advanced technical expertise to support, improve, and expand semiconductor manufacturing, equipment, or business processes. This role independently leads complex engineering assignments, solves high-impact problems, and drives improvements in performance, reliability, cost, and scalability. The Engineer IV partners cross-functionally, mentors less-experienced engineers, and contributes to strategic initiatives while exercising strong technical judgment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex engineering projects and problem-solving efforts impacting manufacturing performance, product capability, or system reliability.
  • Analyze data, designs, or processes to identify root causes, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions that improve yield, throughput, reliability, safety, sustainability, or cost.
  • Serve as a technical subject-matter expert within assigned domain (process, equipment, manufacturing, test, facilities, systems, etc.).
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, IT, and Product teams to drive cross-functional solutions.
  • Lead or significantly contribute to NPI, technology transfers, ramps, or major change initiatives.
  • Design, review, and approve technical documentation, specifications, procedures, and standards.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (RCA, DOE, FMEA, SPC, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Assess engineering trade-offs, risks, and impacts; make recommendations supported by data.
  • Support audits, investigations, customer escalations, or compliance activities as needed.
  • Mentor Engineers I–III through technical guidance, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities within engineering workflows or systems.
  • Stay current on industry trends, technology advancements, and best engineering practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Materials, Software, Systems, or related field).
  • 7+ years of related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.
  • Significant experience in engineering roles supporting manufacturing, technology, or complex systems.
  • Hands-on experience in the design, build, and integration of manufacturing and test equipment, including test fixtures, with strong expertise in electrical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and equipment qualification.
  • Deep technical knowledge within area of specialization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently on ambiguous, high-impact problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Semiconductor manufacturing, equipment, or advanced manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting NPIs, factory ramps, or complex system implementations.
  • Familiarity with statistical tools, modeling, automation, or digital systems relevant to domain.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational, quality, or cost performance.
  • Experience mentoring or acting as technical lead on projects.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving certification.
  • Professional certifications or advanced training relevant to specialty.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing, office, warehouse, and/or cleanroom environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, and grasp.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs; over 25 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to move arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to sit or stand for sustained periods.
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to talk on the phone and use a computer for extended periods.

Environmental Exposure

  • Subject to hazards including electrical current, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, computers, etc.

Overnight Travel

Work may require out-of-town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).

Pay

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $108,000.00 and $172,700.00 per year. Base pay offered may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
