About the Role
Support the design, analysis, and sustainment of Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) energy absorption systems used in carrier landings.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and maintain hardware supporting aircraft deceleration systems.
- Perform structural and mechanical analyses using hand calculations and FEA tools like ANSYS, documenting assumptions and results.
- Create and update 3D models and detailed drawings in Creo and SolidWorks, applying GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis for fit and function.
- Support design for manufacturing, reliability, and safety activities, including materials selection and risk assessments such as FMEA.
- Assist with testing, documentation, integration, and ensuring compliance of engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, change documentation, and provide input for procurement and quality assurance processes.
- Coordinate with various teams and stakeholders to resolve design issues and support production and testing schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering or related field with relevant experience (6+ years for bachelor’s, 4+ for master’s, 2+ for PhD); equivalent experience accepted.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks) and FEA (ANSYS); experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with structural analysis, reliability, and safety assessments like FMEA.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work independently or in teams, and a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at or above Secret level.
