Engineer IV
General Purpose
The Engineer IV, Merchandising Planning Delivery Lead is responsible for driving the strategy, modernization, and delivery of Ross's merchandising planning technology solutions. As a highly technical individual contributor and subject matter expert, this role leads architecture, roadmap development, and platform evolution to support planning, forecasting, analytics, and business decision-making.
The position partners with business and IT stakeholders to deliver value, evaluate emerging technologies, and provide technical leadership across implementation, optimization, and operational support initiatives.
The base salary range for this role is $161,300 to $275,200. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

Essential Functions
- Lead the strategy, roadmap, design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of merchandising planning technology solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and vendor offerings to improve planning capabilities and deliver business value.
- Provide technical leadership for planning platform modernization, application enhancements, integrations, analytics, and automation initiatives.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify opportunities, and develop scalable technology solutions that support planning and forecasting processes.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, development best practices, governance processes, and solution architectures.
- Lead solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support activities across planning technology platforms.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering, Data, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and strategies.
- Drive adoption of advanced analytics, automation, AI, and emerging technologies to improve planning effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Conduct technology assessments, capacity planning, and performance reviews to support current and future business needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and Level 3 escalation point for critical production issues and platform support activities.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of overall IT experience with at least 7 years working as an engineer.
- Experience leading large-scale technology implementations, modernization initiatives, or digital transformation programs.
- Experience working with SaaS based enterprise planning platforms, cloud-based applications, and integrated technology ecosystems.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of merchandising planning, forecasting, analytics, and retail technology platforms.
- Experience with cloud technologies, data integration, APIs, enterprise application architecture, and modern software delivery practices.
- Understanding of analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology capabilities.
- Experience evaluating, implementing, and supporting enterprise software solutions.
- Strong knowledge of application lifecycle management, system integration, governance, and operational support.
- Functional/Domain Skills:
- Strong understanding of retail merchandising planning processes and supporting technologies, including forecasting, financial planning, assortment planning, inventory planning, allocation, replenishment, and related planning disciplines.
- Knowledge of merchandising systems, product hierarchies, master data management, and enterprise retail platforms is highly desirable.
- Understanding of key retail planning and inventory performance metrics used to support business decision-making.
- Analytics & Data Science Skills:
- Experience leveraging analytics, statistical methods, forecasting techniques, and data-driven decision-making processes to support retail planning and merchandising functions.
- Familiarity with predictive analytics, optimization methodologies, and emerging AI/ML technologies is preferred.
- Soft Skills & Leadership:
- Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor and trusted technical advisor.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technology organizations.
- Experience influencing technology strategy, solution direction, and vendor engagements.
