Engineer, Industrial III

Southwire Company, LLC is one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers, manufacturing building wire and cable, utility products, metal-clad cable, portable and electronic cord products, OEM wire products, and engineered products. The company also supplies assembled products, contractor equipment, electrical components, hand tools, and jobsite power and lighting solutions, along with digital solutions such as contractor planning, utility grid resiliency, and field services including cable testing, rejuvenation, and replacement.

About the role

The Industrial Engineer III is responsible for analyzing and optimizing processes, systems, and procedures within the business unit. This role leads and executes projects focused on improving operational performance, reducing costs, capital project justifications, and enhancing product or service quality. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and providing solutions that enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety while ensuring Lean objectives are met and exceeded.

This role will support a newly constructed mega-distribution center in Waco, GA, leading engineering support for automated system design and assuming ownership of post go-live performance to drive sustained efficiency, utilization, and operational effectiveness. The position will transition to the new Mega Distribution Center in Waco, GA (est. opening Q4 '26) but will initially be based in Villa Rica, GA.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data from SAP and BI via queries to identify and deliver recommendations for improvement.
• Design and implement improvements in process flow, layout, and equipment utilization using lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to streamline operations and achieve operational targets.
• Identify and manage project objectives, scope, timelines, and budget to improve operational processes, reduce costs, and increase productivity. Report on project progress and adhere to timelines.
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on project outcomes and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Develop and implement standard work and standard operating procedures for the business unit, ensuring processes and engineering solutions comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Identify capital project opportunities, develop capital request write-ups, project justification, project budget prioritization, and lead management of the project to meet expectations.
• Develop and maintain systems to monitor and track key metrics such as throughput, storage capacity, cycle time, and resource utilization.
• Maintain and optimize SAP configurations to fully utilize system capabilities.
• Build strong relationships with site leadership and team members to understand business challenges and provide solutions.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies in industrial engineering and lead the integration of new technologies to enhance process efficiency (e.g., automation, robotics, ERP systems).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Industrial Engineering degree highly preferred.
• Five years minimum experience in industrial engineering.
