About the Role
Specializes in pipeline and equipment corrosion with knowledge of pipeline integrity procedures and systems. Responsible for monitoring platform corrosion, maintaining mitigation policies, and implementing cathodic protection programs. Oversees corrosion strategies, material investigations, maintenance and repair of cathodic protection systems, pigging operations, coordination of pipeline service and in-line inspection, and ensures documentation and records are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Design, model, develop, and test machines, structures, or systems related to pipeline integrity.
- Develop functional requirements and apply standard engineering principles.
- Create simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs and test operations.
- Design and test components, integrating them to produce final products.
- Monitor product quality and control process efficiency.
- Evaluate a design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Investigate root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements.
- Carry out cathodic protection programs to maintain pipeline integrity.
- Implement and update corrosion strategies and arrange material investigations.
- Coordinate pipeline service, in-line inspection, and pigging operations.
- Maintain documentation and records.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
- Demonstrated experience in Fitness-for-Service evaluations for corrosion, dents, and crack features (e.g., API-579, CorLAS, RSTRENG, MAT-8).
- Advanced knowledge of In-Line Inspection (ILI), Direct Assessment (DA), Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) methods/practices, and pipeline repair.
- Ability to evaluate and make decisions based on assessment data.
- Detail-oriented with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (required).
- NACE CP1 Certification (highly desired).
Schedule
Hybrid work schedule: 4 days in office and 1 day remote. Work location may be Chatsworth or Pico Rivera.
