About the Role
Daily management of APD payroll functions for 574+ personnel. Management of 36, 40, 44 hour payroll. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of paychecks issued bi-weekly. Performs audits and prepares payroll reports. Handles tasks such as leave adjustments, cash-ins, retroactive pay adjustments, merit increases, and manual payroll checks. Conducts audits on pay, leave, and merit anniversary dates. Maintains FMLA/Sick leave files and updates OSHA logs.
Responsibilities
- Manage APD payroll functions
- Audit and prepare payroll reports
- Handle leave adjustments, cash-ins, retroactive pay adjustments, merit increases, and manual payroll checks
- Conduct audits on pay, leave, and merit anniversary dates
- Create and maintain FMLA/Sick leave files and update FMLA tracking log
- Enter workers' compensation claims and update workers' compensation log
- Create and update OSHA logs and prepare quarterly and end of the year OSHA reports
- Reconcile/audit PeopleSoft PCN report
- Respond to employee inquiries and requests for assistance
- Conduct new hire orientations and spousal academies
- Issue departmental ID cards with security access
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Two years of experience in office clerical, personnel, payroll, accounting, purchasing, accounts receivable/payable, and/or fiscal management administrative support
- Ability to type at a net speed of 35 WPM
- Payroll experience preferred
- Experience with Municipality’s PeopleSoft Payroll preferred
- Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel experience preferred
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task during deadlines
- Independent research and policy application experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
