The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for customers’ missions. Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, select, and document materials and processes to meet engineering design requirements for use in aerospace, military, and commercial environments, from concept demonstration through flight-qualified hardware.
  • Define, plan, and implement materials and process investigations and analyses, including adhesives, composites, lubricants, metals, protective surface finishes, life testing, and environmental testing.
  • Consult with and assist BAE Systems, Space & Mission Systems (SMS), and customer organizations (e.g., engineering, production, integration, and test) on the use of materials and processes.
  • Review drawings and specify appropriate materials and processes to meet design intents and contract requirements.
  • Analyze data and generate reports on test results.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the company.
  • Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Work Environment

  • On-site work requiring regular in-person engagement five days per week at the primary work location.
  • Travel and local commute between company campuses and other non-company locations may be required.
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited university, college, or school recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
  • Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design investigations and apply information obtained from laboratory test data.
  • Lab experience and understanding of how to use and interpret data from analytical equipment, including SEM/EDS, FTIR, XRF, Thermal Analysis, tensile/compression, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Ability to use computers and associated software to gather, reduce, and disseminate technical information.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be willing and eligible for security clearance or access submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted, and able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional engineering experience, including laboratory or production floor experience.
  • Familiarity with NASA, military, or industry specifications, especially materials test procedures (e.g., ASTM).
  • Experience developing processes such as corrosion prevention, paints, coatings, adhesives, or lubrication.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $64,926 – $110,374. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
