Materials and Processes Engineer
Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) of Hampton, VA is seeking an entry to early career level Mechanical Engineer with experience in both Materials & Processes and Contamination Control to support spaceflight hardware projects at NASA Langley Research Center.
About the role
The qualified candidate will provide technical solutions and expertise for the design, analysis, manufacture, testing, preparation, and storage of sensitive flight project components used in research and spaceflight. This position supports the Research, Science and Engineering Services (RSES) contract onsite at NASA Langley Research Center.
Responsibilities
- Generate processes for contamination-sensitive spaceflight hardware across all life cycle phases.
- Assess hardware design for material selection and processing applications.
- Develop reports, presentations, and other documentation.
- Create contamination control procedures.
- Apply knowledge of acceptance standards for spaceflight hardware.
- Attend meetings and teleconferences to discuss design, analysis, qualification, and acceptance issues.
- Oversee contamination prevention for developed hardware throughout its life cycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or chemical engineering.
- Experience with Contamination Control for spaceflight hardware.
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, their processes, uses, applications, and limitations.
- Ability to work independently under general direction.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residence.

Pay
$73,000 to $124,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
