About the role
The global Information Technology (IT) Function aligns IT and Business Strategy, leverages IT investments, and optimizes end-to-end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses and delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services cost-efficiently worldwide.
This role works with other team members to solve difficult technical and engineering-related problems. You will support or lead continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions, and cost-reduction projects while driving fundamental process understanding and lowest-cost producer objectives. The position also supports the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technology or improvements in existing technology, resulting in superior products in terms of quality and cost. You will follow Corning's Intellectual Property management processes to document any intellectual property developed as part of a project.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day problem-solving support to production, development, and research operations.
- Train operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes.
- Use rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps.
- Function as a team member or team leader on focused projects.
- Troubleshoot material, process, and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Implement and document material, process, and/or equipment changes.
- Use simple statistical tools and Designed Experiments (DOE) in process problem-solving and improvement; apply more sophisticated statistical tools and DOE techniques for advanced problem-solving and process/product improvement.
- Assure quality and repeatability of processes and products.
- Support new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training.
- Ensure the safety of operators and equipment and comply with safety and environmental regulations.
- Develop subject-matter expertise in material, process, and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.
- Execute cost-reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical experience (exceptional cases considered).
- Yellow Belt Training.
- Track record of delivering results.
- Demonstrated knowledge in a technical field.
- Project team membership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Summer internship or progressive experience within the field of engineering.
- Green Belt Certification.
- Project team leadership experience.
- Shift supervisory experience.

Pay
The range for this position is $70,065.00 - $96,340.00 for full-time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
