Engineer, Gas Distribution Design Engineering

The Engineer supports the planning, design, technical review, and execution of gas distribution infrastructure projects and programs. This role applies engineering principles to help develop safe, reliable, and compliant solutions in accordance with company standards, applicable regulations, and industry best practices. The Engineer works with internal stakeholders and external engineering partners to support the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of gas distribution infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the engineering development and technical execution of gas distribution infrastructure projects, including main replacement, customer growth, municipal coordination, and system reinforcement programs.
• Develop and review engineering designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction work packages under appropriate oversight.
• Perform design quality reviews and coordinate technical input from engineers, designers, internal stakeholders, and engineering consultants.
• Support engineering evaluations related to system capacity, constructability, reliability, safety, and asset performance.
• Collaborate with Operations, Customer Connections, Construction, Asset Management, Damage Prevention, Maps & Records, and other stakeholders to support project execution from concept through completion.
• Interpret and apply applicable regulations, engineering standards, and company requirements.
• Develop project scopes, technical specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for capital projects.
• Coordinate with external engineering consultants and contracted design firms to support quality deliverables, schedule alignment, and compliance with company standards.
• Participate in initiatives focused on engineering efficiency, design quality, standardization, process improvement, and the adoption of engineering best practices.
