At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a high-performing team of engineers, specialists, and technicians, we are seeking a Senior Fluids Engineer with expertise in fluid dynamics to develop advanced fluid management technologies for waste management applications in space. This role focuses on the research, design, analysis, and validation of two-phase fluid separation systems, advancing the understanding of complex liquid–gas flow behavior across multiple flow regimes in microgravity, and developing innovative fluid system solutions for space vehicles. The ideal candidate has a strong background in fluid dynamics, two-phase flow, thermal-fluid systems, and engineering analysis, with the ability to translate complex physics into practical hardware designs. Success in this role requires collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams, a hands-on approach to testing and validation, and a commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance fluid systems. This position offers the opportunity to directly contribute to the future of human space exploration by developing technologies that enable safe, reliable, and repeatable missions supporting humanity's return to the Moon. Special Mentions Relocation providedTravel expected up to 30% of the timeInterviews will include a technical assessment Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To Develop, model, and validate fluid systems using analytical methods and simulation tools.Design, execute, and analyze experiments to characterize system performance and validate design assumptions.Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate fluid systems into aerospace and spaceflight vehicles.Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, and design presentations for internal and external stakeholders.Ensure fluid system designs comply with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.Participate in technical and design reviews, providing engineering recommendations to drive continuous product improvement. Minimum Qualifications 10 years aerospace or fluids engineering degree (or similar discipline)Knowledge of liquid–gas two-phase flow, including flow regimes, pressure drop, and phase separation.Experience with microfluidics, capillary-driven flow, and fluid behavior in microgravity environments.Experience with air–liquid separators and two-phase flow systems, including design, analysis, testing, and performance evaluation.Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for airflow, thermal, and fluid flow simulations to validate and optimize engineering designs.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications Masters or PHD in Physics specializing fluid dynamics.Knowledge of typical use, constraints, and specification of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps, etc.). Knowledge of standard components, installation, and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fittings, welding, etc.)Experience with electrical control systems and architectures used for fluid system valve actuation, including command, power, instrumentation, and feedback interfaces.
