About the role
The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within assigned system(s)
- Provide technical direction to maintenance personnel and controls technician team to support routine and non-routine equipment repair work
- Produce and maintain configuration control for technical documentation that governs the system design, configuration, and operation of NNS systems
- Develop a long-range strategic plan for improvements of assigned systems and equipment
- Develop and maintain critical system metrics
- Oversee project/system testing to ensure system meets technical requirements and operates at peak performance
Requirements
- Candidate preferred to have some electrical engineering experience with electrical infrastructure, and low voltage power distribution
- Candidate preferred to have some electrical engineering experience with controls, ladder logic, programming and integration of robotic automation
- Candidate preferred to have experience in development, troubleshooting, and repairing communication networks
- Knowledge of ANSI/TIA standards
Qualifications
- Must Have: Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Skills
- PLC programming and logic development (various programming languages)
- Robotics/machine automation
- Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
- Network Communication Protocols
- Relay interfaces
- Technical aptitude and understanding of both electrical and mechanical components and how they work together as a system
- Development and/or interpretation of electrical, mechanical and controls schematics
