Qualifications

Include:

  • A Must have a B.S. degree in Engineering
  • A Must have the ability to obtain a Professional Engineer's License
  • A Must have working knowledge and experience in transmission construction and design
  • A Must have experience with PLS-CADD and survey techniques
  • A Must have knowledge of International Fuel Gas Code, NESC, NEC, and the DOT
  • A Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks and demands
  • A Must have a good safety record
  • A Must have First Aid/CPR Certification
  • A Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

Duties

Include:

  • Ensure oversight of guidelines, policies, practices, standards, and regulations relating to transmission designs
  • Provide engineering design and support for transmission pole and airbrake switch replacement projects
  • Supervise projects and oversee contract and company construction crews
  • Perform computer related functions such as engineering analysis, drawing, spreadsheets, and database compilations
  • Compile and write technical reports
  • Respond to customers' needs by performing field investigations
  • Survey and inspect routes
  • Ensure that cost estimates meet company standards and current tariffs
  • Absorb and assist to develop project-specific capital budgets
  • Complete on-call after-hours duties, periodically, for one week at a time; this requires the individual to reside in the greater metro area; includes response to emergency situations and calling personnel out for after-hours activities
  • Perform individual lifts and carry office supplies up to 35 pounds
  • Absorb and ensure actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
  • Absorb and be a full-time position. $74,000 to $135,200 per year, depending on experience.
