About the role
As an Engineer, CMP Engineering, responsible for performing activities that maintain the flow of production through CMP tools during assigned shift while maintaining world‑class quality.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting basic tool issues and making decisions based on effective data analysis.
- Responding to qualification failures using existing procedures.
- Proposing solutions using existing best‑known methods and procedures.
- Conducting change point monitoring review and data collection.
- Performing data analysis and making informed decisions based on findings.
- Providing shift support for abnormal events.
- Implementing operational projects using LEAN principles to improve existing practices and procedures.
- Serving as a primary point of contact or liaison between Technicians and Engineers to coordinate appropriate responses for equipment downs and disposition of material based on industry standard Statistical Process Control rules.
- Conducting basic root cause investigation of material, equipment, and process change points.
- Performing Daily Trend Monitoring and communicating potential failure points to CMP project engineers for critical CMP processes.
- Interfacing with process/equipment engineers and fab technicians to audit and evolve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and OCAPs for completeness and correctness.
- Evaluating and assessing critical thickness and defect parameters to determine if material should be reworked, scrapped, or continued to receive further processing.
- Following documented procedures to perform rework, as needed, on non‑conforming material.
- Regularly monitoring current and incoming inventory and removing path restrictions to allow continuous flow of production material through CMP equipment, while providing feedback to supervisor and area lead(s) to ensure resources are allocated according to factory priorities.
- Using standardized closed‑loop techniques to track and close urgent tool interlocks or faults, and verifying corrective actions taken are effective.
- Identifying and driving operational improvement projects, using LEAN principles, to streamline or eliminate existing practices.
- Maintaining high energy with a focus on safety, quality, and driving proactive continuous improvement.
- Ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 6 months of experience in the offered role or a related occupation.
- Requires 6 months of experience involving the following:
- Root cause analysis;
- Reviewing equipment designs;
- Troubleshooting semiconductor equipment during final testing by applying technical knowledge of flow controllers and RF, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components;
- Diagnosing chamber vacuum failures by inspecting gate valves, gas line leaks, chamber seals, and pump installation and operation;
- Mentoring others on semiconductor fundamentals, AMAT equipment operation, and observability design;
- Training others on best practices for equipment installation, testing, and troubleshooting;
- Documenting common fixes and failing parts to support knowledge transfer across shifts.
