Key Responsibilities

  • Support multiple capital projects (typically 1–3 months each) at power plants across Colorado
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Management Plans for high-risk projects
  • Perform on-site inspections and installation walkdowns to verify work against drawings, specs, and quality standards
  • Monitor and document contractor work, identifying construction defects and quality issues; support resolution and follow-up
  • Review project plans, schedules, and quality documentation
  • Over time, take ownership for approving quality plans and completing field reports
  • Collaborate with plant operations/maintenance teams (internal client)
  • Collaborate with Project Managers (portfolio of 20–25)
  • Collaborate with multiple industrial contractors (mechanical, piping, some electrical)
  • Coordinate daily with Plant operations/maintenance teams and Project Managers
  • Participate in plan-of-the-day (POD) meetings at sites when visiting (typically 7:00 a.m.)
  • Collaborate with quality engineers in other regions to share best practices and support your ramp-up

Qualifications

  • Experience Required: 3–7 years of relevant experience (5–7 years preferred) in an industrial setting, such as: Power generation, Oil & gas, Utilities, Heavy industrial facilities or large capital projects
  • Hands-on experience in quality, inspection, or QA/QC in construction or maintenance, including: Inspecting and testing procedures, Identifying construction defects / nonconformances, Working with contractors on quality-related issues
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required) in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Electrical Engineering (preferred), Civil or Structural Engineering (acceptable), Construction Management (acceptable)
  • Skills & Competencies: Comfortable working on site in industrial facilities (power plants, heavy industrial, etc.), Strong organization and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities, Excellent verbal and written communication skills with project managers, plant staff, and contractors, Self-starter with the ability to learn independently and seek out information, This is a new role in the region, with limited one-on-one training from the manager, Must be proactive about leveraging documentation and peers in other regions, Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), Licensing & Transportation: Valid driver’s license, Reliable personal vehicle for travel between sites within Colorado
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Quality Engineer, Quality Inspector, or Construction Quality Specialist in: Power plants, Oil & gas / utilities, Industrial or heavy infrastructure projects, Familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, or similar project/drawing management tools, Relevant certifications (preferred, not required), such as: Quality control / quality assurance certifications, CWI – Certified Welding Inspector, Lean Six Sigma or other Lean/continuous improvement credentials, Quality auditor certifications
