Responsibilities
- Develop operating standards, cyber security baselines and test procedures for new and existing protective relays and other operational technology cyber assets.
- Maintain the integrity and cyber security of FE’s transmission operational technology cyber assets.
- Monitor software and firmware patch releases, test patches, and develop upgrade deployment and testing plans.
- Add and maintain devices to FE’s interactive remote connectivity platform.
- Support remote gathering and storage of on-line transmission apparatus monitoring devices for use within engineering groups and the Asset Health Center application.
- Support the transmission capital portfolio development as needed.
- Work with the Transmission & Substation Services Department to develop new or refined relay test routines and protocols.
- Assist in the development of new or modified maintenance practices.
- Recommend design standard changes to IT/OT interfaces within FE Bulk Electric Transmission System assets.
- Evaluate cyber vulnerabilities and feature enhancements.
- Mitigate vulnerabilities identified with vendors and IT department.
- Stay informed on industry trends and international design standards.
- Develop training material for operational technology.
- Support the Work Force Development Department in training material development.
- Support the Work Force Development Department in Transmission Reliability Enhancement projects.
- Perform forensic, apparent cause, and root cause analyses.
- Provide technical support and analysis to FEU personnel.
- Support Cascade and Maintenance Compliance personnel and IT organization as needed.
- Support FEU personnel on information and/or reports related to substation assets.
- Anticipate and deliver results.
- Aid during emergencies and storm-related activities.
- Support Business Unit system administration and performance monitoring.
- Support users of the Crossbow application.
- Commission new devices at substations.
- Recommend improvements to strategy, application usage, and process.
Qualifications
- Engineer II: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or acceptable alternative qualifications.
- Engineer III: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or acceptable alternative qualifications.
- Engineer IV: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or acceptable alternative qualifications.
