Engineer Assc - Engineer Sr (AEP Transmission Estimating Department)

This is an onsite position located at either the Roanoke or New Albany office.

About the Role

This role contributes to the development and implementation of systems and infrastructure needed to efficiently deliver energy services to customers. You will perform highly technical estimates for Transmission line and substation projects in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.

Responsibilities

• Support project sponsors in developing conceptual estimates and collaborate with engineering, project management, and other stakeholders to define detailed project scope.
• Prepare detailed project cost estimates based on approved scope of work.
• Interface with planning, engineering, project management, outage management, construction, and operating company personnel to initiate, scope, and follow up on estimate efforts.
• Provide recommendations and guidance on estimate approach and input requirements.
• Develop and analyze historical records of project costs; review and critique designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives.
• Adhere to standard estimating processes and procedures; review estimate basis and assumptions for completeness and reasonableness.
• Work with functional departments to develop services labor estimates.
• Provide technical direction and guidance on estimate development, assumptions, and resolution of estimate issues.
• Assist in maintaining the integrity of estimating software and associated resource and assembly cost data.
• Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the Company’s Corporate Compliance Policy.

Requirements

• Engineer Associate (Grade 06): Entry-level position for new graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
• Acceptable alternative: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s program.
• Engineer (Grade 07): Typically requires 2–4 years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Individuals with a Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program may be considered for entry at this level.
• Acceptable alternative: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s program.
• Engineer Sr. (Grade 08): Typically requires 4 or more years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred.
• Acceptable alternative: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s program.
• VP or above may waive the ABET-accredited program requirement based on relevant qualifications and experience.

Pay

• Engineer Associate (Grade 06): $84,000
• Engineer (Grade 07): $86,000 – $105,000
• Engineer Sr. (Grade 08): $98,993 – $124,940

Schedule

This is a full-time, onsite position. The physical demand level is sedentary work, involving exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may include walking or standing for brief periods.
