What You’ll Do
- Responsible for performing highly technical estimates for Transmission line and substation projects in a safe, efficient and economical manner.
- Comply with defined project scoping and estimating procedures.
- Gather and integrate estimate and cost information to build & update master estimating cost models and databases.
- Develop criteria for estimation and use of project and portfolio contingency.
- Work with project stakeholders (i.e. project management, engineering, planning, construction, contractors, etc.) to develop, implement and continuously improve scoping and estimating processes.
What We’re Looking For
- Support project sponsors in development of conceptual estimates.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and other stakeholders in the development of the detailed project scope of work.
- Prepare detailed project cost estimates based on the approved scope of work.
- Interface with planning, engineering, project engineering/management, outage management, construction, and operating company personnel to identify/initiate, scope, status and follow-up estimate efforts (if necessary).
- This role includes providing recommendations and guidance to interfacing groups/individuals regarding estimate approach and input requirements.
- Develop and analyze historical records of project costs;
- Review and critique designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives when appropriate.
- Adhere to standard processes and procedures for estimating;
- Review estimate basis and assumptions for completeness and reasonableness.
- Work with functional departments and service organization to develop services labor estimates.
- Provide technical direction and guidance regarding estimate approach/development, assumptions/qualifications and resolution of estimate issues.
- Aid in maintaining the integrity of the estimating software and associated resource and assembly cost data.
Qualifications
- Engineer Associate (Grade 06): This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET* (Electrical Engineering Degree Highly Preferred). Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
- Engineer (Grade -07): Has typically acquired two - four (2-4) or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*. (Electrical Engineering degree Highly Preferred). Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
- Engineer Sr. (Grade 08): Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*; Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
