About the role
The NNS Department O04T (Quality Assurance Engineering) Outfitting team is seeking an experienced engineer to support coatings, electrical, sheet metal and work control processes across all programs at NNS.
Responsibilities
- Investigate customer-written Corrective Action Requests (CARs)
- Facilitate Team Learning Sessions (TLSs)
- Manage Quality Improvement Matrix (QIM) items
- Maintain quality-related procedures for coatings, electrical, sheet metal and work control processes
- Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols for procedures
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place
- Devise/implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment
- Design and analyze inspection, testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conduct quality assurance tests; and perform statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications
- Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction
- Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements
Requirements

Nice to Have
- Strong working knowledge of problem solving, root cause analysis, and process management (e.g., Process Mapping and FMEA)
- Experience investigating problems and developing disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies
- Deckplate surveillance experience to ensure processes conform to established standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of Quality processes (e.g., certification, testing) and ISO 9001 applicable to Military, DOE, shipbuilding
- Experience with Technical Publications and Navy Specifications
- Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, Process/Continuous Improvement methodologies, and/or Certified Green or Black Belt
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience in engineering from an ABET accredited program
