About the role
The purpose and scope of the position involves performing a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems at Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
Responsibilities
- Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.
- Ensure safe operations and maintenance of all propellant activities from conceptual design of systems, through procurement, activation, modification, and daily operations and maintenance.
- Provide technical direction to technicians, inspectors, contractors, and others in the operations, maintenance, repair, re-manufacture, fabrication, troubleshooting, and removal from service of assigned systems and equipment.
- Prepare technical documentation that identifies the need for, cost evaluation of, specifications for, activation of, functional and safety analysis of, maintenance of and operator training for propellant equipment and processes.
- Provide studies of program propellant requirements, fluids specifications and equipment capabilities, and analyses to determine effective methods of propellant delivery and storage.
- Perform technical assessments of propellant support requirements, including cost analysis, inventory management, pressure/flow and volume calculations and contingency planning.
- Perform scheduling, status, and coordination functions within KPLSS II, the Government, and other contractors for assigned projects.
- Prepare fluid specification documents and purchase requests necessary to fulfill on-going program needs.
- Generate complete design specifications of more complex projects.
- Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Act as a lead on less complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
- Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
- Extensive experience with Propellants and Life Support Operations on Kennedy Space Center FL is highly preferred.
Qualifications
- Must be able to successfully pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
- A driver's license is required to independently travel onto and around KSC property.
