GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a motivated Engineer 3 to work with the Power Generation Business Sector. This position is based out of our Louisville, KY office, working on a variety of projects around Kentucky and surrounding states.
About the role
The successful candidate will enjoy working and leading in a team-oriented environment, utilizing their college education and past work experience to continue their professional development. This role involves supporting projects associated with power stations, roadways, landfills, renewable energy, and abandoned mine land reclamation. The candidate should be driven and seeking opportunities to:
- Work on energy-related projects with a focus on power generation
- Assist with leading civil site engineering tasks and projects
- Interface with clients on civil site tasks
- Lead and develop assigned project teams
- Develop civil site proposals
- Manage tasks on assigned projects (schedules, budgets, and quality of work)
Responsibilities
Design and Task Management
- Site Grading Plans
- Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
- Stormwater Management Plans
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic / Drainage Plans
- Utility Design and Relocation Plans
- Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans
- Geotechnical Investigations
- Permit Applications (earth disturbance permits, building permits, land development plans, high occupancy permits, etc.)
- Access Road Section Development
- Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Quality Control Plans
- Construction Cost Estimates
- Owner's Engineer Support During Construction
- Field Investigations
Project and Task Management
- Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff
- Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work
- Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
- Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects
Technical Responsibilities
- Develops and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
- Stays informed of updates to standards, regulations, and best practices
- Analyzes complex engineering projects to determine design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints
Management Responsibility
- Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters
- Mentors direct reports and other engineers
- Demonstrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering, including creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability
Communication Skills
- Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language
- Considers the needs of diverse project stakeholders
- Leads project meetings and represents the organization in communications pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, with reciprocity in multiple states
- Ability to travel to project sites, primarily in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States
