Position Summary

The Engagement Director is a critical, multi-faceted role at the center of Opmodi's credit union relationships and delivery. This individual serves as the primary point of contact to maximize the value and quality of what Opmodi delivers, drives program/project management and execution, and is accountable for ensuring Opmodi delivers consistently at an unparalleled level of excellence and with scalable efficiency. They also own the strategic partner relationships that extend our capacity — ensuring partner-executed work meets the Opmodi standard. This role is for someone looking to help lead an entire industry through AI transformation, working with a highly talented and committed team. This is not a siloed role — it is a connector and accelerator role. The ideal candidate is equally at home building trusted relationships with credit union executives and strategic partners, managing a complex portfolio of program/project engagements involving internal and external contributors, building AI transformation frameworks and client presentations from scratch, as well as rolling up their sleeves to draft a SOW, document detailed processes, and handle logistics. Success in this role requires a rare combination of relationship intelligence, subject matter expertise, and execution and delivery discipline. It also requires knowledge of AI tools and capabilities, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning. This is a remote position with travel of up to 25%, centered around client engagement kickoffs, executive readouts, and industry events.

Responsibilities

  • Frameworks & Methodology: Establish and maintain a documented engagement methodology — frameworks, playbooks, templates, and deliverable standards — that defines how an Opmodi engagement is run. Translate that methodology into scoped engagements, defining scope and deliverable architecture per client so delivery stays consistent, scalable, and high quality as the client base grows. Continuously improve the efficiency and scalability of how Opmodi delivers — developing and documenting internal workflows and implementing AI-first tooling that produces measurable gains. Provide input into Opmodi's product and service packages — ensuring alignment between what we offer, the value credit unions need, and responsible, sustainable AI adoption across the industry.
  • Strategic Partner Management: Own the strategic partner relationships that assist with executing engagement work — building the partner management model, scoping partner roles, and setting the quality and deliverable standards that let Opmodi scale delivery without diluting quality. Hold partners accountable to timeline, budget, and SOW commitments — evaluating deliverable quality on an ongoing basis and escalating or course-correcting early when work is not meeting the standard. Serve as the integration point across internal team members, fractional experts, and external partners so multi-party engagements land as one coordinated Opmodi experience.
  • Client Engagement Ownership: Serve as the primary day-to-day relationship and engagement owner for Opmodi's credit union clients — the point of contact for client inquiries, updates, active projects, and issue resolution. Build trusted, long-term partnerships with credit union executives and their teams, becoming a resource sought out for judgment and perspective, not just status updates. Onboard new credit union clients, ensuring a smooth, professional, and value-forward experience from initial engagement through active participation. Collect and synthesize client feedback, surfacing insights that inform evolving service priorities and strategic direction. Track and report on client satisfaction and delivery quality.
  • Program, Project & Operational Execution: Lead program and project management across advisory and technical engagements — owning project plans, timelines, milestones, deliverable tracking, and stakeholder communications. May also contribute to execution work on certain engagements. Manage the full lifecycle of engagements, from scope finalization and contracting — including drafting and maintaining MSAs and SOWs — through delivery and close-out. Monitor engagement progress and proactively identify and resolve risks, blockers, and scope changes before they reach the client. Deliver committed engagements on time, on scope, and at a quality level credit union clients notice and reference. Provide program and project management support for internal initiatives. Oversee engagement billing, ensuring timely, accurate invoices for services performed — coordinating with financial operations partners for processing and financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Communications, or a related field, plus a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience spanning client relationship management and program/project management — OR a High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience spanning client relationship management, operations, and/or program/project management.
  • Experience within a consulting firm, agency, or professional services environment, managing complex multi-workstream client engagements. AI or technology engagements are a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party partners, vendors, or subcontractors who deliver client-facing work — including scoping, quality control, and performance management.
  • Track record of building the methodology, not only running the plan: frameworks, playbooks, templates, or delivery standards you created that others adopted.
  • Demonstrated experience managing SOWs, service agreements, or client contracts.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple complex client relationships and engagements simultaneously.
  • Experience working within or directly supporting credit unions, community financial institutions, CUSOs, retail/mortgage/commercial banking, fintech, or the broader financial services industry is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Relationship Intelligence: Exceptional ability to build trusted, professional relationships with senior executives and at all levels, with a high-touch, high-intent approach.
  • Program & Project Discipline: Strong command of project management principles, tools, and practices, with the ability to manage concurrent, complex engagements with precision.
  • Partner Management: Ability to direct and hold accountable people who do not report to you — setting expectations clearly, managing to quality, and having the difficult conversation early.
  • Operational Excellence: Deep attention to deliverable quality and timelines, as well as to the ongoing improvement of engagement scope and deliverables.
  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills — able to represent Opmodi professionally in client-facing, leadership, and partner settings.
  • AI Fluency: Working knowledge of AI concepts and tools, with a genuine curiosity about how AI is reshaping the financial services landscape.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfort with CRM platforms, project management tools, AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini), and the Microsoft Office suite. Able to create and manage AI workflows that support their own work and that of the broader team.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to synthesize data, engagement feedback, and operational metrics into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Organizational Agility: Exceptional ability to balance competing priorities, manage ambiguity, and execute with discipline in a fast-paced, startup environment.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is more than an experienced operator — they are a passionate advocate for the credit union movement who understands what it means to be mission-driven. We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a motivated self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and demonstrates strong judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Pairs high executive functioning — able to understand the work and help drive strategy — with the low ego to dig in and do whatever it takes to get it done.
  • Brings a warm, credible, and professional presence — as comfortable building genuine rapport with a credit union CEO as managing an internal process or deliverable.
  • Approaches every client interaction and partnership with respect, empathy, curiosity, and a high-intent mindset.
  • Is deeply organized and detail-oriented, understanding that polish, follow-through, and consistency are core to Opmodi's credibility.
  • Is results-driven, resilient, and energized by the opportunity to build something meaningful in a growing organization.
  • Is coachable, curious, and invested in their own professional development and the success of the organization.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven team environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves when the mission demands it.
