Energy Technician- Journeyman/Tier 2 Tech

About the role

Perform full weatherization installations, conduct basic diagnostic testing (blower door, combustion safety), install energy‑saving measures, repair and replace water heaters, maintain job sites, and mentor Tier 1 technicians.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform full weatherization installations with Crew Lead supervision.
• Assist in conducting basic diagnostic testing (blower door, combustion safety) and complete quality checks.
• Install energy‑saving measures in residential homes: attic insulation (batts and blown), caulking, lighting, showerheads, baseboards, thermostats, and electric water heaters.
• Conduct water heater repairs and replacement service calls.
• Help with repairs, load and unload work trucks, keep job sites clean and safe, and assist with setup and teardown.
• Train and mentor Tier 1 techs on the job.

Requirements

• Able to work under different weather conditions including extreme hot and cold.
• Sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Crawl, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or reach often (working in crawl spaces and under mobile homes).
• Use repetitive hand motions and basic hand and power tools.
• Use a ladder at various heights (up to 3 stories).
• Lift, carry, or push up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening, driving record check, and state and federal background checks.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in weatherization or a related trade (electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
• BPI certification or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Clean background check.
• No‑cost paid training available.
