Responsibilities
- Lead and execute ASHRAE energy audits for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and other complex facilities.
- Conduct on-site facility assessments to identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) and operational improvements.
- Perform detailed energy savings calculations, financial analyses, and payback evaluations for recommended projects.
- Develop comprehensive technical reports and client deliverables with minimal oversight.
- Support and lead retro-commissioning (RCx) and monitoring-based commissioning (MBCx) initiatives.
- Provide project management and mentorship to junior staff while serving as a technical resource for energy engineering projects.
Requirements
- 12+ years of energy engineering experience, with 15+ years strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience performing ASHRAE energy audits, identifying ECMs, and independently completing energy savings calculations.
- Strong knowledge of New York City energy and sustainability regulations, including applicable Local Laws.
- Experience with retro-commissioning, monitoring-based commissioning, HVAC systems, building automation systems, and energy optimization projects.
- Professional certifications such as CEM, PE, CBCP, or other relevant credentials are strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently, conduct site visits, prepare reports, and manage projects from assessment through recommendation.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment and commuting to the Hoboken, NJ office.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., eQuest, EnergyPlus).
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
