Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Litigation Associate (3-7 years): Firm Wide
About the role
Holland & Hart is seeking a mid-level associate to join our nationally ranked Energy, Environment and Natural Resources practice. The application window is anticipated to close on or after August 31, 2026. Holland & Hart reserves the right to close the position prior to or after this date.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with Chambers-ranked partners
- Engage face-to-face with federal and state agencies
- Build elite expertise in a high-stakes, fast-moving legal sector
- Secure landmark results on cutting-edge bet the company litigation for clients developing vital projects on public lands
- Navigate complex regulatory hurdles at a time when domestic mineral production is crucial to the nation's security and energy future
Requirements
- Three to seven years of environmental law experience or a background in general litigation matters with an interest in mining and water rights
- Openness for training
- Administrative litigation and regulatory experience are a plus
- Experience with water rights, permitting review, and defending litigation on federal and state permits
- Excited to be part of a dynamic team, ready to take ownership of matters (with appropriate supervision, mentorship, and guidance)
- Eager to get to know clients
- Demonstrate a teamwork ethic, critical analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to excel under pressure and thrive under demanding schedules and deadlines
- Practical law school experience (law review, law journal, moot court, or trial advocacy team), and/or judicial clerkship experience are highly desired
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in at least one of the following jurisdictions: Colorado, Nevada, or Washington, D.C.

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $215,000 – $270,000 for applicants based in Colorado, $180,000 – $205,000 for applicants based in Nevada, and $215,000 – $270,000 for applicants based in Washington, D.C.
Schedule
Full-time employees become eligible for benefits on the date of hire, with a benefits offering that includes medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, EAP, STD, and LTD. Additionally the firm provides enhanced parental leave for both primary and non-primary caregivers as well as an automatic Off Ramp/On Ramp program before and after parental leave.
