About the role

The Energy Engineer will be part of the Corporate Measurement and Verification Team at ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP®. This role is hybrid with up to 75% travel to the DC/VA metro area, including overnight stays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop energy baselines and verify energy savings and annual M&V reporting
  • Apply energy saving strategies and conduct statistical analysis
  • Work in vertical markets such as Federal Government, State and Local Government, Healthcare, K-12 and Higher Education
  • Proactively review and interpret utility bills and energy consumption to limit risk and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Solve issues or escalate to senior M&V engineering members for review and resolution
  • Manage tools and processes for timely and accurate data entry of utility bills and monitored consumption sources
  • Communicate with both technical and non-technical customers internally and externally
  • Understand FEMP and IPMVP concepts and principles
  • Lead and support the development of customer baselines or benchmarks as needed
  • Create high-quality performance reports conveying cost reduction analysis to clients
  • Optionally hold certifications as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical field, or 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and business writing skills

Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical systems data collection and building systems operations
  • Statistical analysis skills

Skills

  • Knowledge of Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) and International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP)
