About the role
The Energy Discipline Lead role at Dewberry is designed to grow and shape the firm's Energy practice across the Northeast. This role involves blending strategic leadership, client partnership, and technical excellence to expand relationships with public and private energy utilities, develop and lead energy infrastructure programs, and guide multidisciplinary teams delivering site/civil solutions for transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business strategies that drive revenue and profit margin growth
- Develop and implement a strategy to increase Dewberry's brand recognition as a provider to northeast region core energy accounts
- Meet with prospective and existing clients to develop and capture new business
- Serve as a client manager or deputy client manager for select Energy accounts
- Cook up and report status to Energy Business Unit Manager and northeast Business Unit Managers and leadership
- Develop responses to requests for proposals and qualifications, including cost proposals
- Serve as Project Manager for complex and volume based projects
- Collaborate proactively and productively with other groups and company offices
- Manage project financials and cash flow
- Collaborate with and manage multi-discipline teams
- Aid in training and mentoring staff
- Engage with project deliverables including quality control reviews and quality management system adherence
- Monitor staffing (talent and capacity) and advise Energy Business Unit Manager and northeast Business Unit Manager(s) on current and future needs
- Work closely with operations and HR to recruit, develop, and retain top energy talent
- Promote Dewberry's culture, values, and commitment to long-term client and employee success
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 10+ years of experience in site/civil design and project management
- Strong understanding of the energy utility market, including transmission, distribution, and substation projects
- Proven success in business development and long-term client relationship management
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate high-performing teams
- Track record of managing complex projects for public and private utility clients
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
- PE license in MA, NY or NJ preferred, or ability to obtain licensure in six months
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel
Qualifications
- Experience in site/civil design and project management
- Understanding of the energy utility market
- Success in business development and client relationship management
- Leadership and team management skills
- Complex project management experience
- Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in MA, NY, or NJ preferred
- Valid driver’s license with travel ability
