About the Role

The Energy Center Technician operates and maintains, without supervision, all Energy Center equipment including:

  • Steam generation equipment (boilers, de-aerator tank, flash tanks, feed water pumps, gas valves/regulators, fuel oil pumps/regulators)
  • Chillers, chilled water pumps, and controls
  • Condenser cooling towers
  • Valves and controls for emergency generators, medical air compressors, medical vacuum pumps, and related equipment

The ideal candidate has knowledge of proper water treatment testing and procedures for both chilled water and steam generating equipment, as well as operating knowledge of building automation/energy management and fire alarm monitoring/control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all Energy Center equipment without supervision
  • Perform water treatment testing and procedures for chilled water and steam generating equipment
  • Operate building automation/energy management and fire alarm monitoring/control systems
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance in plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and general maintenance
  • Read and understand prints/diagrams for buildings and equipment
  • Fit pipe (copper and black iron) and perform welding tasks

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of power plant experience, preferably in large plant operations
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of multiple skilled trades relevant to the healthcare industry
  • Ability to read and understand prints/diagrams for buildings and equipment
  • Experience performing minor repairs in plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and general maintenance
  • Pipe fitting experience (copper and black iron) and welding experience
  • Familiarity with computers and related software (Windows Operating Systems)
  • Knowledge of codes applicable to the field and industry
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Working knowledge of hand tools pertinent to the trade(s)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of high-pressure steam boilers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, compressors, and related plant equipment

All individuals providing care to vulnerable populations are required to undergo background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
