About the role

The Energy Center Operator I position at Mercy Hospital Southeast is an entry-level role requiring basic knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control system maintenance and operation. Incumbents are expected to attend trade school to prepare for advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Learn operations for HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Work with safety procedures and become familiar with respective equipment regulatory requirements
  • Use basic tools and equipment to maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Provide exceptional customer service and communication skills

Requirements

  • General manual dexterity
  • Basic math knowledge
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Valid Driver's License for all Mercy locations
  • EPA Universal Certification as required by 40CFR, Part 82, Subpart F
  • EPA approved Universal Certification for handling Refrigerants
  • Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification
  • Must achieve certifications within specified timeframes
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year direct relevant experience
  • Licenses: High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License (Arkansas), Class II Boiler Operator's License (Oklahoma), Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification (all Mercy locations)
  • Experience: Basic knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control system maintenance and operation

Skills

  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Verbal ability to read and understand technical manuals
  • Numerical ability to make calculations for testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair of equipment
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, conceptualize, and formulate finished product
  • Form perception for measuring and installing parts and equipment
  • Knowledge and use of various computer software such as Outlook, TMS, or Nuvolo
  • Time management and material efficiency
  • Quality work completion and lowest cost to Mercy
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Spatial ability to understand forms and relationships when working from blueprints or specifications
