Energy Center Operator I - FT, Days

About the Role

This is an entry-level position requiring basic knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control system maintenance and operation. The Energy Center Operator I will learn operations for HVAC and refrigeration systems, work practices, safety procedures, and become familiar with equipment regulatory requirements. This role provides an opportunity to learn the proper use of basic tools and equipment necessary to maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems while ensuring a safe working environment and supporting an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform maintenance and operation of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control systems.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulatory requirements for equipment.
  • Utilize basic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and follow instructions.
  • Read and understand technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Perform calculations for testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair of equipment.
  • Prioritize work assignments and manage time and materials efficiently.
  • Complete work assignments with high quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Achieve favorable results on oral and written competency exams for advancement.
  • Teach or conduct learning sessions as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, equivalent, or 1 year of direct relevant experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification (must achieve within 90 days of employment for locations with underground storage tanks).
  • EPA Universal Certification as required by 40CFR, Part 82, Subpart F (must achieve within 12 months of employment).
  • General manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Numerical ability for calculations related to equipment testing, installation, and repair.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time efficiently.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of training in a Technical or Vocational School.
  • Boiler, HVAC, or Refrigeration licensure.
  • 1 or more years of experience as a maintenance technician in a healthcare, educational, or industrial setting.

Licensure by Location

  • Mercy Arkansas Hospitals: High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License (administered by Arkansas Dept. of Labor and Licensing). Required prior to advancing to Energy Center Operator II.
  • Mercy OKC Hospital: Class II Boiler Operator's License (administered by Oklahoma City or Oklahoma Dept. of Labor). Required prior to advancing to Energy Center Operator II.

Schedule

Full-Time (40 hours per week), Days (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM).

Location: Mercy Hospital Stoddard, 1200 North One Mile Rd, Dexter, MO 63841.
