About the role
The Energy Center Operator I position at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is an entry-level role requiring basic knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control system maintenance and operation. Responsibilities
- Learn operations for HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Work with work practices, safety procedures, and equipment regulatory requirements
- Use basic tools and equipment to maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Provide exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Ensure a safe working environment and support an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy
Requirements
- General manual dexterity
- Basic math knowledge
- Mechanical aptitude
- Valid Driver's License for all Mercy locations
- EPA Universal Certification as required by 40CFR, Part 82, Subpart F for all Mercy locations
- Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification required for all Mercy locations with underground storage tanks
- Must achieve certification within 90 days of employment
- Must achieve certification within 12 months of employment
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 year direct relevant experience
- Licensed High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License administered by Arkansas Dept. of Labor and Licensing
- Licensed Class II Boiler Operator's License administered by Oklahoma City
- Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification
- EPA Universal Certification as required by 40CFR, Part 82, Subpart F
Skills and Knowledge
- Oral and written communication skills
- Verbal ability to read and understand technical manuals
- Numerical ability to make calculations for testing, installation, measurement, estimation and repair of equipment
- Ability to prioritize work assignments, conceptualize and formulate finished product
- Form perception for measuring and installing parts and equipment
- Knowledge and use of various computer software such as Outlook, TMS and or Nuvolo
- Ability to manage time and materials efficiently
- Completes work assignments in a high-quality manner and the lowest cost to Mercy
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to achieve department goals
- Spatial ability to understand forms and relationships when working from blueprints or specifications
- Passes both oral and written competency exams to advance to ECO II
