About the role

Parsons Engineering Support Contractor (ESC) Program supports the U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps Program. This role offers the opportunity to work independently, collaborate with a diverse team, and make a measurable difference at facilities nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct energy and water audits at Job Corps Centers across the country
  • Evaluate building systems, energy and water usage, and develop cost-justified recommendations for energy and water conservation measures
  • Support the ESC team on safety-related matters as a Safety Representative
  • Prepare comprehensive energy audit reports for each center audited
  • Deliver reports and findings in a clear, organized format suitable for review by program management and stakeholders
  • Coordinate site visit logistics and scheduling with Job Corps Center staff
  • Maintain professional communication with center staff, contractors, and program management throughout the audit process
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to carry and safely set up/use a ladder as needed for site evaluations
  • Ability to work at heights, including accessing rooftop-mounted equipment
  • Ability to travel frequently (air and ground travel) to job sites throughout the United States, including overnight travel
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident Alien authorized to work within the United States
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively (up to 35% travel), including multi-day trips
  • Must be able to pass any background checks or clearances required for access to Job Corps Center facilities

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated familiarity with HVAC systems and equipment, Building Automation Systems (BAS), lighting controls, and other energy management systems
  • 10 years of experience conducting energy audits or energy assessments is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE audit standards and EISA compliance requirements preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret utility bills, energy usage data, and building drawings/specifications
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret energy and water consumption data
  • Solid understanding of building energy systems and conservation measures
  • Ability to perform basic economic analysis (LCCA, simple payback, ROI) for proposed improvements
  • Strong written communication skills for preparing clear, professional audit reports
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while traveling to multiple sites
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet audit and reporting deadlines
  • Commitment to safety practices and procedures in the field

Pay

$63,600.00 - $111,300.00

Schedule

This position involves frequent travel to Job Corps Centers located throughout the country. Work is performed both indoors (mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, occupied building spaces) and outdoors (rooftops, building exteriors), in varying weather and site conditions. This role requires physical activity including climbing ladders, walking extended distances, and working at heights.
