About the role
The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join our team. ANTHC is a non-profit Tribal health organization serving over 171,000 Alaska Native and American Indian people across Alaska. Responsibilities
- Provides technical endoscopic assistance during routine and complex endoscopic procedures.
- Responds to endoscopic emergencies in the crucial care unit, emergency department, and operating room.
- Anticipates the needs of the providers and assists with the monitoring of the patient for potentially dangerous physical changes.
- Facilitates safe and effective performance of endoscopic procedures.
- Assists registered nurses with patient care to include placing monitoring equipment on patient, positioning, transfer, and discharge.
- Ensures endoscopy room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and that endoscopic procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
- Develops and maintains a safe and aseptic procedural field.
- Completes High Level Disinfection process of endoscopy equipment.
- Maintains standard precautions to control the spread of infection during the HLD process, complies with quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure equipment is disinfected and stored properly and documents accordingly.
- Inspects and verifies endoscopy instruments and equipment are functioning properly. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and readjusts equipment or refers for repair.
- Sets up instruments, supplies, and equipment. Stocks the endoscopy areas, including the traveling carts.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Endoscopy Technician I: Non-supervisory – One (1) years of patient care experience.
- Endoscopy Technician II: Non-supervisory - Two (2) years’ experience working as an Endoscopy Technician and/or Surgical Technician.
- Endoscopy Technician III: Non-supervisory – Four (4) years’ experience working as an Endoscopy Technician.

- All knowledge of safety factors and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures for the care of patients.
- Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.
- Knowledge of communication skills, both oral and written to interact with patients and families.
- Knowledge of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
- Knowledge of endoscopy reprocessing and high level disinfection.
- Knowledge of modern endoscopic surgical principles and techniques for the care of patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and concepts of disease.
- Knowledge of endoscopic room procedures and pre-procedure patient preparation.
- Knowledge of reference standards and regulatory requirements for endoscopic room safety.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, sterile practices, infection control, basic life support and other applicable practice standards.
- Skill in performing assigned endoscopic procedures.
- Skill in performing High Level Disinfection and Endoscope Reprocessing.
- Skill in monitoring patient responses and taking appropriate action.
- Skill in operating a variety of software applications and personal computer and other necessary technology platforms.
- Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks and demands.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
