Responsibilities
- Sets up and turns over procedure rooms keeping up with schedule
- Demonstrates evidence of professional growth by education thru attendance at seminars and in-services related to field of practice, and on hospital and unit committees
- Recognizes and values the contributions of fellow employees and displays cooperation and teamwork
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, looking at best practices
- Reports to work on time, prepared to work and follow hospital policies for notice of lateness/absenteeism and time off requests
- Demonstrates a high level of respect, dignity compassion and professionalism for all customers by utilizing the four tenets (Dignity + Respect, Information Sharing, Participation, Collaboration)
Qualifications
- Educational requirements: High School graduate or equivalent, Certification of Basic Life Support (BLS), Annual unit specific competencies, 10 (CEUs) annually
- Experience requirements: Minimum 1 year of patient care or ambulatory clinical support as CNA, PCA, ACA, MA, GI tech or equivalent experience and/or minimum of 1 year of related experience in the GI scope processing
- Licenses: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Successful completion of the SGNA Associate Program within 1 year and Advanced Associates Program within 2 years. Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification, Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or agreeable to obtain one of the above certifications within 2 years from date of hire
- Skills: Ability to read, write, and perform basic math, ability to read instructional materials and labels, ability to participate as a member of the patient care team and take directions, demonstrate knowledge of effective skills for communication, listens effectively, and professionally communicates with patients, families and staff, ability to work independently, applies knowledge to the entire scope processing procedures, able to perform skills required for inventory management, decontamination, and high level disinfecting and maintenance responsibilities
