Endoscopy Technician (32270)

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Endoscopy Technician to assist the endoscopy team during procedures, ensuring safe patient care and achieving facility goals.

About the role

The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the provision of care to meet identified patient outcomes and to assist physicians with procedures while maintaining a safe and efficient environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to surgery center policy and procedure.
• Efficiently and effectively assist physicians with endoscopy procedures, anticipating their needs before and during the procedure.
• Report the patient's planned outcomes to the Registered Nurse in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Respond to patient care and facility needs in emergency situations, including initiating and implementing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as appropriate.
• Demonstrate knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations.
• Meet patient and family learning needs as identified in the plan of care, including orienting them to the patient care environment and routines.
• Demonstrate continued competence in treating and caring for individuals based on age-specific needs using a developmental perspective.
• Modify approach to the patient based on cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity.
• Provide appropriate interventions related to safety issues.
• Maintain, clean, and care for endoscopy equipment, ensuring proper disinfection and adherence to aseptic techniques.
• Manage inventory control, including receipt, distribution, and stocking of central supply, floor stock, office supplies, and rental equipment.
• Ensure rental equipment undergoes safety and performance checks by biomedical personnel and is properly cleaned and disinfected.
• Process instruments and trays using proper cleaning materials and techniques to prolong their lifespan.
• Maintain proper records of instrumentation processing and adhere to bloodborne pathogen standards and standard precautions.
• Perform hand hygiene and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling potentially infectious materials.
• Demonstrate containment, cleaning, disinfection, and surveillance processes necessary during construction, repair, renovation, or demolition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in endoscopy preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient technical (computer) skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Self-motivated with initiative and a strong sense of ethics.
