About the Role
Responsible for rendering professional care to patients undergoing GI and PAIN management procedures within the surgical center in accordance with established procedures. Functions cooperatively with physicians and staff, exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Prepares equipment and anticipates Physician and patient needs for GI procedures. Provides general maintenance of the clinical area and equipment. Oversees the GI procedures and maintains all aspects of the GI procedure area.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients prior to procedure
- Document intra-procedure notes
- Assist physician on all GI procedures
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies in the GI procedure area
- Clean and maintain equipment per Center policy
- Assist in Preop and Recovery with turning over bays, discharging patients, basic patient assistance, and stocking
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current BLS required
- MA Certification preferred
- Knowledge of policies and procedures specific to the OR and GI
- Strong customer service skills
- Manual dexterity to handle instruments quickly
- Conscientious, organized, and able to handle the stress of a busy operating room & GI lab environment
- Able to function as a team player
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Able to communicate and understand the English language, both written and verbal
- Certification in Operating Room Technology a plus
