About the Role

Hartford Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join their inpatient endocrinology team. Duties include managing inpatient diabetes of complex endocrinology populations across all service lines and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams for implementation of treatment and discharge planning.

Seeking a provider with diabetes, endocrine, or inpatient experience; inpatient diabetes experience is preferred but not required. Schedule requires weekend coverage only, with mandatory schedule flexibility during the onboarding and training period.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical examinations under established guidelines and in collaboration with practice physicians.
  • Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs in consultation with physicians and care team members (e.g., referrals to specialists).
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of practice as designated by protocols.
  • Identify problems outside the scope of practice and refer appropriately to physicians.
  • Manage inpatient diabetes and complex endocrinology populations across all service lines.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for treatment implementation and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible).
  • APRN (Nurse Practitioner) or Physician Assistant certification.
  • 1+ years’ experience in an endocrinology setting.

Schedule

Per diem, minimum 2 weekends per month. Shifts are 5-10 hours long. No call required.
