EMT - Health Tech I/II Sobering Center

Job Summary

The Health Tech position at Horizon Services Inc. - Cherry Hill Sobering Centers offers a signing bonus of $2,000 for bilingual applicants ($500 each after 30, 90, 150, and 210 days of employment). The position requires a Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification from the State of California, CPR/First Aid certification, a valid California driver's license, and basic knowledge of Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health.

Responsibilities

• Perform health screenings for all potential clients.
• Monitor vitals, medical triage, and assess clients' needs for sobering.
• Maintain records of client's medication in logbook and EHR system (if applicable).
• Document observations 30 min and case notes every 6 hours (in EHR if applicable).
• Create a welcoming environment for participants.
• Respond to crises, emergencies, and other client needs in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Provide transportation as necessary and when requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the State of California.
• CPR/First Aid certified.
• Basic academic knowledge and understanding of Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health.
• A valid CA driver's license and good driving record in good standing.
• Background and drug testing at time of hire.
• Current TB test and retaken annually.
• Preferred: Bilingual in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, or Tagalog.

Bilingual Incentive

Bilingual candidates fluent in one or more of BHSD’s threshold languages—Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese—are eligible for an additional incentive of $2,000 distributed in four installments.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $23.00-$25.00/hour depending on qualifications and experience.
