ED TECH II (EMT)

Core Functions

• Aid in patient triage, documenting vital signs and other assessments.
• Maintain and monitor patients across various acuity levels, reporting significant changes promptly.
• Support patient positioning, mobility, and transport, utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment.
• Provide comfort measures and support to patients and families during extended wait or transfer times.
• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), rhythm monitoring, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
• Assist with emergency and trauma care procedures such as wound care, dressing changes, splinting, and orthopedic immobilization.
• Prepare and maintain sterile setups, and provide basic life support (CPR, AED use).
• Participate in emergency responses like Code Blues and trauma activations.
• Prepare, stock, and maintain trauma bays and treatment rooms, ensuring equipment is functional and supplies are organized.
• Clean, restock, and reset rooms between patients, troubleshooting ED equipment as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team, maintaining professionalism, privacy, and compassion.
• Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Idaho EMT License (or eligible for reciprocity) OR dual EMT/CNA credentialing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Prior six months or more experience in emergency services, critical care, or pre-hospital EMS.
• Demonstrated skills in EKGs, phlebotomy, and basic wound care.
