EMS Training Specialist

Responsibilities

• Developing curriculum, scheduling, teaching, and record keeping of continuing education classes for paramedics and EMTs
• Assisting with completion of required paperwork and filing it with the Texas Department of Health Services
• Taking an active role in quality improvement and quality assurance programs by performing quality reviews and audits on patient care reports
• Identifying remedial training for paramedics
• Going on “ride-alongs” with field personnel to evaluate crews on their medical skills and procedures
• Ensuring IFD personnel adheres to UTSWMC/Biotel EMS system guidelines for therapy protocols and pharmacology use, and complies with nationally recognized standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and five years of experience as a field paramedic
• Two years of experience as an instructor
• Fire service based EMS experience preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medicine beneficial
• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
• Instructor Certification from DSHA or National Association of EMS Educators, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
• Texas Department of State Health Services course coordinator credentials preferred

Pay

PAY GRADE GG22, with a full pay range of $5,634 - $7,939 per month
