Responsibilities

  • Educate, train and mentor paramedic students by delivering comprehensive didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction.
  • Prepare students to provide safe, evidence-based prehospital care and successfully meet the National Registry and state certification requirements.
  • Develop and deliver engaging classroom lectures, hands-on skills labs and high-fidelity simulation exercises.
  • Teach advanced prehospital assessment, treatment and critical thinking based on current EMS standards and evidence-based practices.
  • Evaluate student performances through written exams, practical skills assessments and competency evaluations.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and academic support to promote student success.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, state and local EMS regulations and institutional policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a licensed Paramedic.
  • Previous Emergency Medical Services Teaching experience preferred.
  • Hold a valid license under IDPH.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (Instructor preferred but not required).
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (Instructor preferred but not required).
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers Certification (Instructor preferred but not required).
  • Must be personable with good organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fluid environment and demonstrate improvisational skills.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and other related areas.
  • Must be able to present information to adult learners in a controlled environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $43/hr. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
