Brief Description
This is a high-level, sworn firefighting position that operates under the general direction of the Deputy Chief Support Services and in close coordination with the departments leadership team. The Division Chief of EMS serves as the primary architect and administrator of Eddy County Fire & Rescue (ECFR) Emergency Medical Services, tasked with evolving the current med-rescue first response agency into a nationally recognized rural EMS model.
Internal Teamwork and Departmental Integration
- Works collaboratively with all internal divisions including Training/Health and Safety, Prevention, Operations, and Fleet to ensure that EMS delivery is seamlessly integrated into the department's overall mission.
- Evaluates field needs, mentors personnel, and implements quality-of-life improvements that enhance provider wellness and patient outcomes.
- Ensures that all internal policies, medical protocols, and software systems are standardized and align with the department's strategic goals.
Interagency Collaboration and Partnerships
- Builds and maintains robust professional relationships with external stakeholders, including:
- Regional Healthcare: Works closely with local hospitals and healthcare workers to bridge the gap between field care and clinical reception.
- Municipal Partnerships: Facilitates daily communication, joint training, and operational partnerships with the Artesia and Carlsbad Fire Departments to ensure a cohesive regional response.
- State and Federal Liaison: Ensures all programs and licenses remain in strict compliance with NMAC, state, and federal laws.
Contract Management and Strategic Growth
- Oversight of logistics and implementation of major strategic initiatives, such as the EMS Feasibility study.
- Manages third-party contractors and consultants to translate data-driven insights into actionable service expansions.
- Coordination of procurement and maintenance of medical supplies and medications, ensuring a standardized and cutting-edge inventory of life-saving equipment.
Pay
Starting salary range: $96,116.80 annually
