Job Summary and Qualifications

The EMS Nurse Coordinator is responsible for providing a consistent, courteous, and timely care experience for patients transported by EMS to our facility. The responsibilities include greeting and receiving both the patient and EMS personnel in a dedicated area, collaborating with the clinical nurse coordinator (CNC) to adequately plan for the arrival of inbound patients and manage through any EMS surges to achieve timely offloads, overseeing the EMS lounge, maintaining the stroke care area, assisting clinical personnel in the care of patients, and other downtime duties. The EMS Nurse Coordinator will collaborate and communicate regularly with the EMS PPR Director on strategic initiatives and provide ideas/feedback to the EMS Growth Governance Council. The EMS Nurse Coordinator shall remain dedicated to this role and shall not be removed from this role to assume primary care of patients admitted to the ED.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
  • Current RN VA license or has a compact multistate license.
  • 3 years of experience required in the Emergency Room.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
