Duties/Responsibilities
- Job development functions including, but not limited to: cold calling, personal visits to potential job sites, and situational assessments.
- Assess individuals (clients) for qualifications, match individuals to job openings. (also referred to as Individual Assessment, Job Match, and Job Analysis functions).
- Act as primary trainer/support person for individuals as assigned, ensuring that the client performs the job satisfactorily during all phases of job training.
- Withdraw or fade from the client and job site in a planned progression to allow the client to work more independently over time. This includes setting up necessary natural support services.
- Maintain service coordination with other service providers as appropriate.
- Follow-up with the client according to program requirements for as long as necessary to ensure client success on the job.
- Document required information in a timely and complete manner for reporting purposes and to ensure accountable service delivery.
- Participate in Penn Employment Services staff meetings and Arc staff meetings as directed by the supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers, advancing the mission and values of The Arc within the organization and the community. Might be asked to cover clients of co-workers when necessary.
- Occasionally drive clients to appointments, the job site, etc., in a company-owned vehicle.
- Perform other relevant tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of appropriate means of communication and interaction with clients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, races and ethnicities, religions, etc.
- Knowledge of appropriate means of interacting and communicating with individuals with intellectual/developmental/physical disabilities.
- Mastery of English language, basic math skills, and typical office computer software.
- Highly refined people and organizational skills, flexibility in working non-traditional hours, and a schedule that can change frequently and may occur on weekends and holidays.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; interpersonal skills that put people at ease.
- Network with professionals from other organizations in the best interests of the client and The Arc.
- Time management.
- Work mostly independently.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and/or move at least 15lbs.
- Frequently use hands to finger, handle, and reach with arms and hands below or at the waist level and above shoulder height.
- Be able to pull, push, lift, or carry.
- Be able to stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl.
- Constantly be able to talk or communicate, hear, taste, or smell.
- Specific vision abilities may include close vision; color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Be exposed to all outside weather conditions (including but not limited to sun, rain, heat, cold, snow, etc.), dust, and fumes while working.
- Noisy environment, moderate level, rarely loud.
Education/Experience
- Minimum of high school diploma/GED plus two years vocational or human services work experience.
- Preferrably college/technical school/university degree in the Human Services field plus, a minimum of 6 months of related work experience.
