Employment Specialist - Community Based

About the role

The Employment Specialist at Seacoast Mental Health Center, Inc. provides direct and indirect Evidence-Based Supported Employment services to eligible adults with severe and persistent mental illness and their families. Employment Services are primarily delivered in the community, with most of the Employment Specialist's time spent with clients outside the office. Key responsibilities include engaging in job development activities, such as community outreach and education for both existing and prospective employers.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate vocational assessments and document findings into a coherent employment plan.
• Document all contacts with, or on behalf of, clients in a timely manner.
• Conduct periodic chart reviews and treatment plan addendums.
• Work to preserve client dignity and build on their independent functioning.
• Build and structure a natural support system involving family, coworkers, friends, neighbors, and other groups or individuals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in psychology or social work.
• A good understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric rehabilitation, treatment, recovery, family systems, and the social, rehabilitation, and healthcare systems.
• A valid driver's license with a "clean" driving record.
• CPR and First Aid Training is recommended.

Qualifications

• Experience in mental health and/or substance use disorder services is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of employment law and best practices in supported employment.

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
